What is Mezzocielo&Friends?

First, let us tell you how everything began.

 

It was almost ten years ago. We started as a group of friends, a bunch of players and artists, all very passionate about Magic: the Gathering. We were famous in our community as the players that always tried to bring the game experience a little bit further. Sometimes we convinced everyone to play standing up, and announce their cards yelling, like in japanese mangas. Other times we would narrate our games, telling our opponents tales about our wizards wondering throught forests, mountains and islands to search the spells they needed.

For us, it was not just about winning or losing. It was about the feeling, the excitment, the story. We wanted to play our favorite game with the best possible experience. As you can imagine, representing tokens with coins and paper pieces was not for us. It was long ago, and finding the right tokens at the time was very difficult sometimes.

We decided to become our own solution.

The first tokens we printed were for our decks, and they became a huge success wherever we went playing. So we decided to get together once again and see if we could design tokens in a professional way. It was September 2016 when we met in a pub and wrote, on a napkin, the core values that would lead our project.

  We want to bring beauty to the world and to our favorite game. For us, aesthetics is a fundamental aspect in eveything. We won’t print anything we don’t believe in or don’t consider worth it. We want to be proud of what we create.
   

• Respect Art and Artists.
  We value the incredible effort of artists all over the world. We will never take advantage of someone’s work, and we will never undervalue the work of an artist just to increase our profits. We will always recognize their contributions.
   

• Respect Game and Players.
  When we create a product, we do it to improve the experience of our fellow players around the world. We dedicate the same care we put for our experience. Because we share it.
   

These simple three pillars guide us to this day, and we have no intention of letting them go. We are proud of what we do and where this led us. We get to work with different, incredible artists; we became the official sponsors of Paupergeddons, the greatest pauper event in the world; and we detain one of the biggest – if not the biggest – token catalog online, with over 300 different tokens available.
